What is a Joint Venture?
Joint ventures are a type of alliance – they involve joint ownership of equity in a separate company. That is the technical definition of “joint venture.” Sometimes, the term is also used more loosely to denote any kind of joint effort.
Ben Gomes-Casseres has worked with major joint ventures in electronics, energy, and other industries. His Harvard case study on Fuji Xerox, a long standing joint venture of Xerox and Fuji Photo Film, is a classic taught in business schools around the world. (Other case studies are on this site too.)
Because joint ventures are a type of alliance, our services in Alliance Management and in Alliance Strategy can be tailored to joint ventures.
