Videos: The Social Contract Between Business and Society

By Ben Gomes-Casseres

I am honored to occupy the Peter A. Petri Chair in Business and Society at Brandeis University, International Business School. This academic chair was funded by generous donors and named in recognition of the vision and leadership of our founding dean.

The video above (2+ min) is a short report of the event introducing the new chair on February 26, 2019.

In my inaugural lecture, I examined the social contract between business and society, with special attention to the twin problems of climate change and inequality. The talk applies the framework of Remix Strategy to examine three aspects of this social contract — how joint value can be created, how collaboration is governed, and how value is shared.

I hope that these clips will help my readers think about the urgent issues facing our society today.
